Broadcasting History in the Transnational Space

The project "History on TV" is part of the interdisciplinary project "Broadcasting History in the Transnational Space" (Project coordinator: Rainer Gries) of historians and communication scientists from Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Great Britain, USA and Israel. The project analyses the changed framework for the science of history and for the didactics of history which result of a broad focus on historical topics by the mass media. Firstly, the project concentrates on the Second World War, the Holocaust and National Socialism. Our assumption is that media communication heavily influences society's conception of history. Goal of the collaboration is to understand media factors of influence to increase the chance of a cultivated media use to impart history.
